FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Do these procedures hurt?
Pain is minimized with the use of anesthetic agents. With implantation of a neurostimulation system, and intrathecal systems, patients are awake during the procedure.

How long do procedures take?
The blocks take from 5-15 minutes to perform. The LASE, nucleoplasty and IDET procedures take 30-45 minutes. The implantable devices take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

How long will I be off work?
That is up to the physician but generally patients are off work for 1 to 2 days following a procedure. With advanced procedures, patients could be off a couple of days and up to 6 depending on the procedure and the patient’s line of work.

How soon after a procedure will I start to feel relief?
With most blocks and procedures, you may begin to feel relief a few days following the procedure. The full effect may take a couple of weeks once the healing process is completed.

Does my insurance cover the procedures?
Medicare, Medicaid and most major insurance companies cover these procedures based on medical necessity. You will need to confirm with your insurance company for coverage.
